BE-Basic Brazil

TU Delft & BE-Basic Brazil

In 2012 (then) Prince of Orange Willem-Alexander officially opened the TU Delft and BE-Basic Brazil office, located in Campinas (close to the state capital São Paulo), a region where much of the chemical industry and many of the key knowledge institutions are concentrated. The objective of the Brazil Office is to further intensify and facilitate the cooperation with Brazil, in the fields of research, education and business development.

The office, located at the campus of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), consists of a location director from TU Delft and local support and research staff. Besides this permanent staff, a number of researchers and professors from TU Delft and its partners regulary visit for lectures, project meetings or congresses.

Collaborations with Brazil build on an integrated business plan of activities, which are formalised in a series of joint agreements with among others:

  • FAPESP - São Paulo Research Foundation and its BIOEN Research Programme (2010, extended in 2013)
  • CTBE - Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory (2011)
  • UNICAMP - University of Campinas (2012)
  • FIESP - Federation of Industries of São Paulo State (2012)
